ADE 2019: first names announced

Did someone say New Order?

This year's Amsterdam Dance Event takes place on 16-20 October

The first wave of confirmed artists for this year's Amsterdam Dance Event was announced yesterday. As it's the world's biggest dance music conference-cum-festival it's no surprise that there are already plenty of top-flight DJs on the bill, but one name in particular jumped out at us: ADE 2019 will feature a live performance from one of the UK's most iconic electronic acts, the mighty New Order.

Which for many people would be reason enough to start looking into the price of flights. But also announced in the first wave are (among many others, and in alphabetical order) Agoria, Amelie Lens, Armin Van Buuren, Ben Klock, Ben UFO, Carl Cox, Charlotte De Witte, Chris Liebing, Craig Richards, Dave Clarke, Dax J, Denis Sulta, Derrick May, Dixon, Floating Points, Helena Hauff, Jamie Jones, Jeff Mills, Joris Voorn, Joseph Capriati, Maceo Plex, Marcel Dettman, Martin Garrix, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Mr Scruff… and that's just the first half of the alphabet.

The fact is, line-up announcements for ADE are quite redundant, in a way, because a) most of the above (except New Order, of course) are there every year and b) it'd almost be quicker to list the people that aren't playing. But suffice to say, with some 400,000 visitors expected this year, the Amsterdam Dance Event magic isn't showing any sign of waning just yet…
