Xone:96 boasts expanded I/O, improved filters, twin soundcards and a new crossfader
Some 15 years on from the launch of the Xone:92, which has gone on to become a staple in clubs worldwide, Allen & Heath have unveiled a new flagship mixer, the Xone:96.
The Xone:96 is essentially an upgraded version of its predecessor, and hence on first glance appears fairly similar. But if you look closely you'll see that the mixer's acclaimed filter section now includes a Crunch control, which allows you to add controlled harmonic distortion to the filter's output, while the top panel also features a new crossfader, namely the popular InnoFADER Mini.
Other improvements can be found round the back and under the hood. The Xone:96 now includes two stereo sends, four stereo sends and a dedicated master insert, while inside the box lurk two 32-bit, 24-channel soundcards, complete with twin USB ports, making for easier handovers between DJs using laptops and controllers.
The Xone:96 measures 336x410x109mm (WxDxH) and weighs 7kg. There's no official word on pricing or availability as yet, but expect to pay somewhere upwards of £1,500.
