Drum programming app features 40 onboard kits as standard, with the option to add more or create your own

New from Arturia comes iSPARK for iPad, a mobile beat-making app based on the company's popular SPARK 2 desktop drum production suite.

Like its bigger brother, iSPARK features a wide range of drum kits, some sampled from analogue kits and others created using physical modelling. 40 kits are supplied as standard, with further kits available priced at €3.99/$3.99 each. You can also create your own custom kits by choosing from 640 individual instruments or tweaking the parameters of existing ones.

Patterns can be created using the 64-step sequencer, or recorded in real-time using the virtual pads. iSPARK is also compatible with Arturia's dedicated SparkLE controller, which could prove useful for existing SPARK 2 owners.

Once you've laid down your drum track, a whole host of FX can be applied, including all the basics like filters, distortion, delay and reverb, as well as more exotic goodies such as TapeDrop and Space Pan. And when it comes to integrating iSPARK drums into your productions, Ableton Link integration, AudioBus and Inter-App Audio compatibility make synching with other software or exporting sounds a breeze.

iSPARK is available now for the special introductory price of €9.99/$9.99, which will rise to €19.99/$19.99 in a few weeks. For more info, see the Arturia website.
