Brazil's Andre Sobota returns to BCee's label with a fine two-tracker
Brazilian producer Andre Sabota has been leading a double life for well over a decade now – turning out a long string of house, tech-house and minimal releases under his own name while simultaneously juggling a parallel career in D&B under the "Bungle" moniker.
As this latest offering for BCee's Spearhead label shows, though, it's a trick he can pull of with some aplomb. On the A, Angles is a hard one to fit neatly into any one D&B pigeonhole – it's got the musicality of liquid, sure, but this is no lightweight, sugar-sweet frothaccino! Instead, it's a dark, eyes-down roller with techier hints and a dubwise sensiblity when it comes to sound selection. Cold Call, on the other hand, snuggles a little more cosily under the liquid umbrella but again is pleasingly saccharine-free with its steppers beat and dense atmospherics.
Two very solid cuts that will suit fans of the label to a tee.
