The Yorkshire producer returns to Mar-T and Luca Donzelli's label

Outspoken DJ, producer, label boss and radio host Darius Syrossian has had a busy year so far, with a residency at Sankeys Ibiza and a number of big festival appearances as well as pumping out the tunes - like this, his latest on WOW! Recordings that samples A Tribe Called Quest’s Bonita Applebum.

So how does it sound? Pretty good is the answer, with two tracks and a remix from label bosses Luca Donzelli & Mar-T. First up is Darius's original mix of Applebum, which starts out with a sample from the track and then charges forth at a great pace with heavy bass tones and scatty percussion which form the backbone of the track. It's pretty sparse and features a breakdown with the now legendary "can you feel it?" sample and is all about the tight rhythm.

The remix of Applebum by Luca Donzelli & Mar-T starts out in a similarly heavy way, with thudding drums and rhythmic noises, and again is pretty minimal, with a snippet of the vocal sample looped as the hook and another breakdown with risers and heavy percussive elements. Finally you have the EP's actual title track Revolution, which starts with a distorted bassline and slowly builds with quirky sounds and a pronounced hi-hat, along with another recognisable vocal sample saying “it's time for the revolution” that's been distorted and had echo applied. Again it's very rhythmic but not as minimal as the first two tracks, and for me is the best on the EP.

All in all this is a fine tech-house release with three fast-paced dancefloor groovers and I’m sure it will find many fans out there in clubs, pubs, neo discotheques and bars the world over!
