The 2020 World Champion will be declared on 30 November
Calling all turntablists: entries are now being accepted for the 2020 DMC World DJ Championships.
At time of writing, would-be contestants are invited to submit a filmed, one-minute set to the 'practice room' on the DMC website, with full-length set submissions then being accepted from 16 September onwards. Entry to the competition is free.
As previously reported, the National Championships proper will then get underway from 23 September, with national winners announced on 28 October, and the World Finalists announced – after an Eliminations round – on 18 November. Those chosen then get a week to prepare and upload their World Final sets, with all of those sets available for public viewing and voting on the DMC website, and the winner (to allow time for the public vote) declared a week later.
The winner will receive a pair of Technics SL-1210 turntables worth around £1,800 – plus, of course, the honour of claiming a title that has previously been held by such luminaries as DJ Craze, Q-Bert [pictured] and The Scratch Perverts.
