2 Bit Thugs

The German duo serve up some party-starting tackle on their own Formatik Records

My name is Sam Tyler. I had an accident, and I woke up in 1995.

Okay, so none of that's true at all*, but you get the idea! The kind of chunky, techy, funk-driven house that ruled northern gay clubs in the mid-90s seems to be having something of a revanche right now - even if it's 5-10bpm slower and (according to the hype sheet for this) I'm supposed to call it 'motor/tech-funk'- and Humpy, a stomping beast of a tune with a hefty struttin' bassline, crisp drums and looping "they chase right up, they chase right up" vox, is a prime example.

On the, Crumpy is similar in overall feel but its "I got addicted" vocal plays a less dominant role, leaving space for some big rave-y synth stabs to shine through. Either track will rock the floor for sure, but for my money Humpy wins by a head.
