The rising UK duo make their DNS debut, Sidney Charles and LaRosa take care of remix duties
Making their debut on Max Chapman's Resonance in 2018, UK duo Hart & Neenan have since chalked up releases on Distance Music, Twisted Fusion, Whyostro, Under No Illusion and more. And now they come to Do Not Sleep with this two-track, four-mix EP.
Riding tuff, driving 4/4s and a hefty rump-shaking bassline, Patience itself starts out sounding like a fairly typical tech-house joint from the label, but very soon distinguishes itself thanks to the vocal from Elliot Chapman: "I was always told, you better get it before you're old, you can be too patient". Chapman's jazzy/soulful stylings reallly lift the track above the herd, and should help it reach out to a wider range of floors. Sidney Charles then supplies a slightly deeper remix wtih skippy, twitchy beats replacing the four-to-the-floor thump of the original. Sect, meanwhile, is (in its original form) a bottom-heavy, funk-fuelled deep house groover augmented by all manner of microsounds and sci-fi bleeps. The remix from Australia's LaRosa then strips things back for a slightly more laidback, late-night ride.
If pushed then the Original Mix of Patience takes the gold for yours truly, but this is good stuff all round.
