'Not About You' is out today, 'La Femme Fantastique' is out next Friday
Honey Dijon is trailing the release of her forthcoming second album Black Girl Magic with two consecutive singles on the Classic Music Company label. Not About You drops today, with La Femme Fantastique to follow next week (Friday 7 August).
Not About You features Atlanta, Georgia-based vocalist Hadiya George, and is accompanied by a very topical video created by artist and animator Ciaran McCusker, which you can see below.
McCusker says of the video:
“Honey has always been a forerunner of hedonistic party pleasure, so for us to land this we were really excited, knowing how this would influence the story. These videos demonstrate the gender expressiveness and fearlessness of members within the queer community and their ability to stand up and speak out for their civil rights. Honey, the heroine, guides us through the club, a place to lose inhibitions and become free on the dancefloor. It has been an incredible experience for the team and I to collaborate with Honey in marrying a story of liberation with her music.”
McCusker has also made a video for La Femme Fantastique, which features Josh Caffe on vocal duties. Dijon says of the project as a whole:
"I am extremely honored to be working with such talented black artists and the body of work we created. It’s been a challenging few months for all of us but it’s so important for me to continue to make music to uplift people. I have tons more music on the way and some hot surprises."
A release date for Black Girl Magic will be announced in due course.
