Illyus & Barrientos prove there's life in a familar Loleatta sample yet...

After a great 2018, Illyus & Barrientos start 2019 with a tune that's off the scale for sheer playability and danceability. If it's a statement of intent for what they have planned for the coming year, we are all in for a treat!

Shout starts with a percussive loop made up of rough, choppy beats, and brings in the diva vocals from Loleatta Holloway in the form of ‘ha’s’ and ‘whoops’ over a solid, funky bass-led backbeat. You can tell from the first few bars of the vocal lines that this one is going to be something a little bit special and it doesn't disappoint. The Loleatta vocal is looped in such a way as to make both a verse and chorus, which is a great use of the sample. There are sci-fi stabs in the background and it really is a solid call to the dancefloor, and will no doubt do very well for the boys, who are on fire at the moment.

If you want to get your hands on an early contender for record of the year, seek this release out - it's a proper party-starter.
