Korg's microKEY controller keyboards get a 2015 update, with two new models joining the line-up
Known for their simple, uncluttered design, compact size and portability, Korg's microKEY controller keyboards have become a firm favourite with bedroom producers. And now they've had a remix, with new features geared towards mobile music-making with iPhones and iPads.
The new microKEY 2 comes in 25-, 37-, 49- and 61-key versions, while the microKEY Air has 25, 27, 49 or 61 keys. Both have the same simple design, pitch bend/modulation wheels (or joystick, in the case of the 25-key units) and USB connectivity as the original models, but they're now also iOS compatible and feature a new jack for a damper pedal. The microKEY Air also supports Apple's Bluetooth Smart Low-Energy MIDI technology (and so can connect wirelessly) and can run for up to 30 hours of continuous use off two AA batteries.
Both keyboards are available now, with prices ranging from £40 to £120 depending on the model.
