The first 'DJ Bone And Friends' of 2020 finds the Detroit native welcoming the man who first brought him to Europe
Last year saw Detroit techno legend and Subject Detroit label boss DJ Bone launching his DJ Bone And Friends party concept, which sees him playing back-to-back with specially selected guests. And now Laurent Garnier has been announced as the first DJ Bones And Friends guest of 2020.
It's an appropriate booking, certainly. Until 1996, DJ Bone had never thought of pursuing DJing as a career: it was something he did for the love of the music. But on hearing him play in Detroit that year, Garnier set about convincing him otherwise, and Bone played his first international gig at Paris's world-famous Rex Club (where Garnier was then resident) a few months later. The rest, as they say, is history – nearly a quarter-century's worth.
And now the two old friends will be joining forces once more – at Radion in Amsterdam on 20 May, to be precise, with the two scene figureheads digging deep as they play for eight hours solid. Tickets for this one (currently priced €19.50) are already selling fast, so if you want to go, you'd best grab a ticket quick before they disappear entirely!
