Their final virtual festival takes place this weekend, while elrow are stepping up a gear

As you may have noticed, there are livestreams going on right, left and centre right now. So rather than doing a series of individual news stories, here are some recent developments all in one place…

Defected are to host their ninth and final virtual festival this weekend. The broadcast will run from 2pm-9pm UK time this Friday (22 May), and will be headlined by none other than Carl Cox [pictured], with support from MK, Nic Fanciulli, Idris Elba, Boys Noize and Sam Divine. Also appearing will be two more winners of Defected's DJ For The World DJ competition, namely Brazil's Aline Rocha and the USA's TQ Grant.

Defected's virtual festivals have been viewed by over 14 million people and raised over $1.2M for the World Health Organisation's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, so huge props to all concerned in making it happen, and to all those who've chipped in along the way.

• And while we're on the subject of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a big shout out to music charity Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ), whose Set For Love event on the weekend of 8-10 May now has raised over £50K for the same cause.

The event featured over 1,000 DJs in over 50 countries, and those taking part included DJs of all levels – from bedroom heroes to the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Nightmares On Wax, Doorly, Nick Warren and Jackmaster. Highlights can be seen on LNADJ's Facebook page and donations are still being accepted, with another event expected to be announced soon.

• Finally, Spanish club giants elrow have just announced an elrow show to be livestreamed from Barcelona's famous Casa Batilo this Sunday (24 May). The Gaudi-designed monument will be given a makoever in keeping with elrow's usual high production values, and acrobats and other performers will be doing their thing at a safe distance from each other while Paco Osuna, De La Swing and Tini Gessler spin the tunes. Tune in via elrow's Facebook page from 3pm.

The event follows a series of livestreamed elrow Home Sessions in April and May and is, we're told, the first in a series of four elrow shows that will be broadcast from different locations across Spain.
