The first event is at Anomalie on 28 August with Thomas Brinkmann and Frank Bretschneider
Born in Poland, raised in Detroit and based in Berlin, Magda has been a fixture on the world techno and house scene since the late 90s, when she toured with the Minus crew as Richie Hawtin's opening DJ. Since then, she's set up the successful Items & Things label with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce - but now she's branching out with a new imprint all of her own, PERM Records.
PERM will be both a record label and an event series, and will actually begin life as the latter, with two launch parties taking place on 28 August and 25 September, both at Anomalie in East Berlin. On 28 August, Magda will be joined by German electronic music pioneers Thomas Brinkmann and Frank Bretschneider (as Soul Center and Super.Trigger, their respective live projects), as well as Hamid, Dasha Redkina, Atakana and Baby Vulture.
A line-up has yet to be announced for the September gig, but both will see Anomalie transformed with installations by artist Dirk Bell and lighting designers House Of North, and a custom audiophile soundsystem. Magda says in a statement to the press: "PERM is a project inspired by my musical and aesthetic influences growing up in Detroit and always searching for the lines between things. Both the events and record label are based on unique collaborations with various multimedia artists to present something a little different."
Following the two launch events, new music from the artists involved will be released on the PERM Records label. For more details, see the PERM Records website.
