Celebrations kick off in August, and there's a new sub-label on the way too…
Steve Bug's Poker Flat label reach their 20th anniversary next month, and they'll be celebrating reaching that impressive milestone with a series of remix releases and birthday parties.
First up in the remix series is Berkson & What's Keep On (featuring a vocal from Robert Owens, and first out on sub-label Dessous in 2008), with new rubs from Tim Engelhardt dropping on 23 August. After that, expect more remixed Poker Flat classics from Michael Meyer, Catz ’n Dogz, Acid Pauli, Guti, Butch, Matthias Kaden and Francois K. The first two 20th birthday parties announced, meanwhile, will take place at Hive in Zurich on 7 August, and at Tanzhaus West in Frankfurt on 23 August.
Not content to rest on his laurels, though, Poker Flat main man Steve Bug is also using the 20th anniversary as an opportunity to launch a new sub-label called Sublease Music.
"I’ve been thinking about starting a new label for a while now, and now seems the perfect time to finally do it," said Bug. "I get sent a lot of tracks I love and play in my sets that aren’t quite right for Poker Flat: deeper, more club-ready, tracky cuts from exceptionally talented producers that deserve a platform so that more people can hear them. This was the ethos with which I originally set up Poker Flat, so it seems fitting that as we celebrate 20 years of Poker Flat it’s time for Sublease Music to bring a different sound to the world."
