2 Bit Thugs

The single's out this Saturday via Traxsource, or on general release from 21 August

Our second track exclusive this week comes to you courtesy of Rival Beat Records. Give It Up is a slice of uptempo contemporary soul with a pleasingly phat bottom-end, and sees label bosses Beat Rivals teaming up once more with leading UK soul diva Natasha Watts, with whom they previously collaborated on 2014's Fabulous and 2015's Lift Your Voice.

With musical backgrounds ranging from D&B to jazz, Krazy K and Soulshy came together to form Beat Rivals around the turn of the decade and have released a steady string of singles on Rival Beat ever since, working not just with Ms Watts but also other well-respected vocalists such as Angie Brown, Phillip Ramirez and Michele Chiavarini.

Natasha Watts, meanwhile, has released two albums under her own name (2014's Natasha Watts and 2016's 2nd Time Around, both on Sedsoul) as well as recording with a Who's Who of the contemporary soul, broken beat and soulful house scenes, including Bugz In The Attic, Yam Who?, DJ Spen, Richard Earnshaw, Terry Hunter, Kaidi Tatham and Speedometer.

Give It Up has been mixed and mastered by Toni Economides, known for his work with Reel People, which might give you a bit of a clue as to what to expect musically. We can hear echoes of Evelyn 'Champagne' King's classic I'm In Love here but you, of course, can hit Play below and make your own minds up!
