The full EP is out on Deepen Sound on 12 June

Our third track premiere of the week comes from Vancouver house and techno label Deepen Sound. Diplomatico is the work of Canadian duo Krown & Lock, and today we present for your listening pleasure the Vernon Douglas Pumpin' Deep Dub. The full EP's out on 12 June.

Deepen Sound was launched by Vernon Douglas as Deepen Discs in 2001, took a break for a few years and was then relaunched by Douglas and Jay Tripwire as Deepen Sound in the early 2010s. This latest offering from the label comes from Steve Lui and Simon Lock, two DJs and producers who've only teamed up as Krown & Lock fairly recently - their debut Chameleon EP came out on Nordic Trax in 2016 - but whose solo careers stretch back to the early 90s.

Their Original Mix of Diplomatico is a bass-led throbber that blends influences from deep house and ESQ/Liquid Liquid-style 'punk funk' and sports a female vocal from Tara Burnett, while the EP's other original track No Joy is a more rollicking houser with distinct 90s overtones. But of the six tracks/mixes that make up the full EP, our ears were drawn most to this fairly self-explanatory rub from the label founder himself.
