The 'DMT' EP will be available from Monday (22 April)
Our third exclusive track premiere this week comes courtesy of LA-based label Prescribed Trax, as iDJ brings you the first chance to hear Andrea Frisina's remix of Elvis Xhema's DMT.
Elvis Xhema hails from Bosnia & Herzegovina, and describes himself as a producer of "techno, tech-house, hard techno and progressive techno". With this latest release, he comes to Prescribed Trax, one of Los Angeles' leading techno imprints. And – last but definitely not least! – Andrea Frisina [pictured] will be well known to techno lovers as the boss of Rome's Gate Null and Gate Eins Recordings labels, as well as being an accomplished producer in his own right with a long string of releases to his name – in fact, 2019 marks 10 years since his production debut.
As you'll hear below, Frisina's remix of DMT is a synth-driven affair, with a hefty, no-nonsense kick and fairly simple analogue percussion underpinning the looping, melodic synth lines that gradually evolve as the track progresses. His aim, he says, was to give the track a "Stranger Things-like feel".
So did he succeed? Would Eleven feel an irresistible lure in the direction of the dancefloor? Check his remix out below and make your own mind up!
