Out tomorrow, 'I Wanna Say' is the latest offering from the Abu Dhabi duo

Our final exclusive track premiere this week comes once more courtesy of Zulu Records, as iDJ brings you the first chance to hear I Wanna Say by Monkeye, which lands in stores tomorrow (Monday 10 August).

Monkeye are Mat Hones and Mark Evans, two producers who both hail from the UK originally but are currently based in Abu Dhabi. Citing the likes of D.Ramirez, Mark Knight, Sonny Fodera and Solardo as key influences, they've been recording together since 2017, with releases on Toolroom, Vamos Music, Whore House Records and Plain & Simple as well as Zulu Records. The latter is, of course, the Brighton-based record label headed up by MDE (formerly My Digital Enemy) – but then you knew that, because we've run several premieres from them before.

As for the track we're presenting today… I Wanna Say is a tough, rolling tech-house groover with a nice fat, squelchy bassline, a proper earworm of a lolloping synth hook and cut-up diva vocal shouts. It might not win any prizes for the rewriting of rulebooks or shattering of paradigms, admittedly… but it'll move bodies on dancefloors for sure, and that's what counts!

See what you think…
