The first release from brand new label Four Four Soul Recordings is out today
Today's exclusive track premiere finds us in soulful, jazzy house territory, as iDJ brings you a first chance to hear the Club Mix of Peaceful Thoughts by Casa Devi ft Layal Watfeh. The Peaceful Thoughts EP is out today on Four Four Soul Recordings.
Four Four Soul Recordings is a brand new label set up by Tom Davidson, who's best known as the co-founder (alongside Oli Lazarus) of Reel People, and who also runs London's People Studios. The label's debut release finds him adopting a new production alias – Casa Devi – and teaming up with Syrian-born vocalist Layal Watfeh.
In its Original form, Peaceful Thoughts is a jazzy, soulful cut that will appeal to those whose soulful house tastes lean towards the broken beat end of the spectrum, while elsewhere, Luke McCarty & Craig Whitfield serve up a stripped-down Acid Dub in their HHA guise, Pat Bedeau takes things deeper on his Bedfunk Dub and Modaji turns in a more contemplative, late-night kinda pass.
But the mix we're featuring today is the Casa Devi Club Mix, which has the same soulful, jazzy feel as the Original but tones down some of the fussier elements, making for a rub that's perhaps got a little more instant floor-appeal. See what you think…
