The track comes from the St Petersburg producer's 'No Sleep' EP, which is out today

Today's track premiere finds us in Detroit-inspired techno territory, as iDJ proudly brings you a first chance to hear Space Shuttle by Nightdrive. The track is taken from his new EP No Sleep, which is out today.

Nightdrive comes from St Petersburg in Russia, and has been producing since 2015. He started out making darker techno, but in recent years has spread his musical wings a little wider and begun to explore house and breakbeat territory. That makes him, of course, a perfect fit for Dubiks, a UK label with a wide-ranging musical remit – just consider the podcasts they've launched during Covid pandemic, for instance, which include Deep House Finest, Techno Trip, Melodic Journey and Disco House Universe.

Elsewhere on the EP, opener 1.2 blends house, techno and breakbeat influences, Feel My Acid Mind comes on like a cross between acid techno and the sort of wonky, off-kilter house that Kerri Chandler's Madhouse made their name with (check those warping keys!), No Sleep is a fast-paced, atmospheric electro-breakbeat affair, while Nw is in a similar vein but leaning a little more towards the ambient/experimental side.

The track that got us the most excited, though, was Space Shuttle, which should appeal to anyone with a love of classic Motor City techno sounds. See what you think…
