The album's out on Friday (6 January), with more brand new material from Blaine Stranger, Halflight and many more

This Friday (6 January) will see the release of Drum & Bass Annual 2017, the latest in Viper Recordings' yearly series of D&B compilations.

The album's packed with scene anthems from the likes of Cyantific, Matrix & Futurebound, The Prototypes and Brookes Brothers, but as ever, there's plenty of new and exclusive material featured, too - 10 of the album's 37 tracks, in fact, with previously unheard tuneage from the likes of Halflight, Blaine Stranger, Misfit and many more. But we were particularly drawn to this cut from Manchester trio North Base. The Drum & Bass Annual compilations always span the full D&B spectrum, and hence nestled in among this year's crop of dark neurofunk workouts and hi-octane, festival-friendly bangers you'll find this fine slice of jazzy, soulful liquid action.

Its quality should come as no surprise, of course. Active since the start of the decade, North Base have played alongside (and had their tracks supported by) the biggest names in the D&B world, while their remix talents have been sought out by artists as diverse as Craig David & Big Narstie, Example, Laidback Luke, Ms Dynamite and The Freestylers.

And now, exclusively for iDJ readers, here's their very latest creation. Enjoy!
