Prok | Fitch take a trip to the weird side on this EP for Solardo's label
Prok | Fitch are back on the Solardo boys' Sola imprint with a tasty EP featuring two whacked-out tracks of tech-house quirkiness that should fill many a dancefloor over the summer months.
Pop In Pop Out itself starts with a bass loop, a hi-hat pattern and some other percussive sounds, before introducing a very strange vocal (which I suspect is a sample) which is soon joined by some crazy-assed sounds that remind me of kids' TV show The Clangers. Later on there are some arcade game-like sounds as well, and the track as a whole is seriously is off-kilter, but in a good way. The next track, Tiger Blood, has a funky backing track with skippy, almost breakbeat percussion, and features a drunken, ranting Charlie Sheen saying that he has “tiger blood and Adonis DNA”, among other highly amusing ramblings that are put to an idiosyncratic music track here.
Prok | Fitch have managed to strike the right balance between the craziness of the two songs' subject matter and the musicality required to power two great dance tracks here, and have done it in a way that is both clever and very danceable.
