SK Shlomo announces 'double tour'

Beatboxing for kids by day… electronic soul for grown-ups by night

The innovative dual-layered trek kicks off in Bristol on 16 February

Most iDJ readers will probably be aware by now that, of late, former champion beatboxer Shlomo has reinvented himself as singer-songwriter SK Shlomo (and if you weren't, check our recent premiere for a taste of his new direction). But now, with his debut SK Shomo long-player Surrender due on 29 March, he's announced a UK 'double tour' that will see him combining both skill sets in one 'fun for all the family' package.

By day, Shlomo will put the beatboxing skills that have graced recordings and live shows by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen, Jarvis Cocker and Rudimental to good use with the family-oriented Shlomo's Beatbox Adventure For Kids, while by night he'll be donning his singer-songwriter hat and performing tracks from his new album, which has been inspired by the likes of Massive Attack, James Blake and Caribou.

In some cases, these two things will happen on the same day, in the same city - but not all, so it's arguably two separate, overlapping tours rather than a 'double tour'. But it's an interesting and innovative approach to live performance whatever you call it.
