Fodera's own productions feature heavily in a set that also takes in everyone from Roland Clarke to Eats Everything
Australian
producer Sonny Fodera becomes the latest DJ to serve up an In The
House collection for Defected, having released several singles on the
label previously.
As
is pretty much par for the In The House course, it's a three-disc
affair, with the first two mixed and the third unmixed. CD1 opens
with the blues-y roar of Gershon Jackson's Take It Easy, setting the tone for a mix that's long on vocals and big, booming
basslines... and long, too, on Fodera's own productions and remixes.
These make up more than half the tracklist, though there's space also
for tracks and mixes by the likes of Eats Everything, Cajmere, Dale
Howard, Catz 'N' Dogz and Will Clarke.
CD2
is a bit less heavy on Sonny's own work, but the overall mood and
style are largely similar, though things do get a little tuffer
towards the end. Artists featured include Mark Fanciulli, Tim Deluxe,
Roland Clarke, Josh Butler, Claude VonStroke - and, er, Rudimental,
with Sonny's piano-tastic rub of I Will For Love undoubtedly the
album's biggest surprise. His excellent Deep Mix of Janet
Rushmore's classic Joy also deserves a special shout.
Finally,
CD3 features nine of Sonny's own productions, plus three remixes for
GotSome, Harrison Crump and NiCe7 - though as they're different
tracks from those used in the mix and the promo didn't include the
third CD, there's not a lot we can tell you about that one!
All
told though, with a thoroughly contemporary take on classic house
sounds, this collection is a strong addition to the In The House
series, and serves to demonstrate just why Fodera has come such a
long way in such a short time.
