London club The Cause, who raise money for various charities, will be reopening on 8 July, complete with a brand new, 5,000-square-foot room that's been provisionally dubbed 'The Theatre'.

The reopening follows the end of lockdown, obviously, but also the success of a Crowfunder campaign called Save The Cause that originally set out to raise £20,000. At time of writing, the fund stands at £21,030 and donations are still being accepted, with a new 'stretch goal' of £35,000 now set. Perks on offer for those chipping in include t-shirts, posters, drinks and DJ lessons – as well, of course, as tickets for the grand reopening, which will take place on a to-be-specified date some time after 8 July (when the Crowdfunder campaign ends).

In other good news, the updated campaign info also states that, "As you are probably aware, our current home has always been intended for demolition and redevelopment. However, this pandemic is affecting all industries and we’ve already received notification from we can stay in our current building well into 2021 and we’re anticipating even longer still."

Announcing that the new room is definitely going ahead, The Cause co-founder Stuart Glen said: "We were set to unveil this space on Easter Thursday with a ridiculous unannounced back-to-back from two Chicago OG’s. There really would have been no club like it in the country. COVID has shattered our dreams and we have been close to abandoning this expansion due to financial constraints. We are now in a Catch 22: we either give this back to our landlord, spending money to reinstate changes or we plough on, fundraise a little further and finish what we have started. Double or quits really, but we have faith in our community to make this happen!“
