Voodoo magic in virtual synth form, as the popular soft-synth gets an upgrade
Rob Papen Predator has been a popular synth choice with leading electronic music producers for nearly a dedade now. And this week, Time+Space announced the arrival of its second-gen incarnation, cunningly entitled Rob Papen Predator 2.
As before, Predator 2 offers a huge number of presets - over 5,000 of the blighters - and a single-window primary interface. The latter is now augmented by a new Easy Page, containing just the most commonly adjusted parameters, to make the package more beginner-friendly.
Other new features include an XY pad, wave form morphing, an improved Preset Manager, more envelopes and LFO's (four, to the original's two), and an additional high-pass filter, as well as an enhanced reverb algorithm based on the popular RP-Verb plugin.
The instrument works as a VST, AU or AAX plugin on 32- and 64-bit Windows and Mac OS machines, and the video below will give you more idea of its capabilities...
Rob Papen Predator 2 is available now, priced £124, or £39.95 if you're upgrading from the original - though if you bought the original in March or April this year, you get the upgrade for free! Full details at Timespace.com.
