Features contributions from Lenzman, Emba, DRS, Willem & McLeod and label boss BCee, among others

BCee's Spearhead Records bring us the third installment in their Moodswings compilation series, which like the previous volumes features a mixture of recent faves and brand new material.

What's most striking about Moodswings Vol 3 is how varied it is, even though prettty much everything here sits comfortably under the 'liquid' umbrella. The collection opens with a couple of quite commercial/accessible cuts that lean towards the 'stadium' end of things, in the form of Villem & McLeod's Siren and Riya's Ripples, both of which feature pop-style female vocals. But it's not long before Technimatic's Mirror Image (as remixed by Phaction) comes along and drags us back towards jungle territory with its fierce Amens and sawtooth bassline.

The juxtaposition of dark and light on those first three tracks then sets the tone for the rest of the album, with a blend of tracks that'd sound perfectly at home in the Top 40 (see Emba & BCee's Galaxy, for instance) and others that plough a slightly more underground furrow – with Lenzman's deep, dreamy Caught Up [Terror Remix] providing the album standout to these ears.

If you can handle a few spoonfuls of saccharine here and there, this collection is worth checking for sure.
