The Spanish label pull out all the stops with this 100-track compilation

If you're not familiar with Spanish label MoodyHouse Recordings, there's never been a better time to get acquainted! Set up by Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax in 2015, the label's just reached its 100th release, and to celebrate they've released this 'best of' collection featuring a cool 100 – yes, 100! – of the label's finest tracks to date.

In old-fashioned 33rpm vinyl terms, that would make this something like an eight- or ten-album boxset, so if you were expecting a full blow-by-blow, track-by-track account then you're gonna be disappointed – especially as, despite my best efforts over several hours, only 99 of the WAVs seem to have downloaded! But suffice to say that MoodyHouse has always specialised in fairly 'trad-style' house and deep house grooves, and the tracks here run the full gamut of that particular spectrum, from dusty, ultra-deep, jazzy cuts like Kou's Indigo (which wouldn't have sounded out of place on Boulevard) to vocal podium belters like Cockney Lama's Never Leave Your Love Behind. And that's not to mention the various excursions into slightly techier, more downtempo or nu-disco territory… basically, whatever particular sub-flavour of real proper deep house music floats your boat, you're unlikely to come away from this collection disappointed.

And the best thing of all? The whole lot can be yours for the frankly ludicrous price of £9.99! That's so cheap it almost feels wrong, but in what are cash-strapped times for many of us, you can only really applaud Messrs Montoro & Wax for bringing quite this much quality house music to the public, quite so affordably. Now go buy it so they can keep going for another 100 releases!
