'Favelas' is already finding favour with the likes of Jamie Jones and Latmun

2017 was a great year for northwest UK duo Vibe Killers, with releases on the likes of Hottrax, Knee Deep In Sound, Kaluki and Lost Records. So for 2018 they've started a new label called Star Cycling Club to release their own new tracks on.

This, the label's inaugural release, is a fast-paced, funky lil' number that starts off with an electro kick and hi-hat pattern that's added to with snare hits. The track's main hook is a sampled conversation in Portuguese, and rhythmically it matches the funky bassline to a tee, giving the track a very compelling sound. The production is tight and punchy as well, and so far it's been spun by the likes of Latmun and Jamie Jones on the DC10 terrace in Ibiza, among other clubs, and the reaction has been great.

Presumably the sample might have something to do with Brazil's favelas - shanty towns famed for drug and gang-related violence - but as I don't speak the language beyond ordering a beer I couldn't tell you! What I do know is that I'll be keeping an eye on this label, because this is a great track that I can see myself hammering for the next few months and onwards.
