The Marbella-based South African serves up two dancefloor destroyers
Check In Recordings is a subsidiary label of Vamos Music, and here they bring us two surefire tech-house floorfillers from Adam Holiday, who hails from South Africa but is now based in Spain.
First up is Breaking The Mold itself. The title track starts with a short breakbeat intro, then begins to build with the addition of more percussive layers, a repetitive looped bassline and messed-up male vocal samples saying "You're breaking the mold," among other things that are hard to work out as they have loads of FX on them and sound pretty damn tasty. There are loads of other random sounds as well, and the whole track gels perfectly. Next up is Who The F*** Is That?, which starts with a muted kick, hi-hat and rhythmic shot. Then in comes the full kick and the main body of the track, which has a grungey sound as one of the hooks along with a stabbed synth riff and more distorted vocal samples that this time seem to be a person talking about the past music industry, which fits into the whole ethos of the track perfectly.
Both tracks are different from a lot of the dross that's being thrown out on some labels of late, and both tracks pack a hefty dancefloor punch, which will stand them in good stead over the coming months. I'm looking forward to playing both tracks and seeing the crowd reaction for myself.
