The venue, formerly known as Camden Palace, was undergoing refurbishment
London's famous Koko venue (formerly Camden Palace) was struck by fire yesterday evening, although firefighters have now managed to extinguish the flames.
Koko, which has been an entertainment venue since opening as the Camden Theatre in 1900, was currently closed for refurbishment and remodelling following the acquisition of two neighbouring properties in any case, so luckily no one was in the club when flames were spotted coming from the roof at around 9pm last night.
The BBC reports that a team of 60 firefighters tackled the blaze, and that it was brought under control in the small hours of this morning.
