There's an excellent night-time line-up as well as all the educational stuff
With the International Music Summit (IMS) celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the organisers have announced that educational spin-off IMS College, which debuted in Malta, will return to the island on 7-9 July this year.
While the International Music Summit itself does have plenty of opportunities for industry newcomers to learn from those more experienced, it's also a chance for those whose music industry careers are already well established to meet and discuss the burning issues of the day. IMS College, on the other hand, is aimed entirely at those who are just starting out, with two days of panel discussions, keynote speakers, workshops and networking sessions, organised by Point Blank Studios, that cover every aspect of the industry, from actually making the music to marketing it and getting it on the radio.
Announcing this year's event, IMS co-founder Ben Turner said: "As IMS approaches its first decade, it feels right for us to put even more focus on inspiring the new generation of producers, performers and industry protagonists. IMS College Malta year one was a revelation for us, a different approach to curating a summit considering the audience was so open to absorbing all forms of education and instruction about this incredible culture of music. We thank our partners and the governmment of Malta for seeing the value in taking such an approach to educate whilst we entertain."
It's also, of course, a good excuse for a party, and there's a full programme of night-time events with some pretty tasty line-ups. This year's official afterparties take place at Uno Village, with Sven Väth and Agoria on the Friday, Todd Terry and Technasia on the Saturday and Richy Ahmed on the Sunday.
If you want to go, then a badge giving you access to both days of the conference and all three night-time events costs €70 - note that doesn't include flights or accommodation, which you'll need to sort out separately. For full details, see the IMS website.
