The TV Lounge resident and My Baby Records co-owner does us a mix
In Making Waves, we showcase DJ mixes by rising stars of the scene. Today it's the turn of Detroit's Mister Joshooa, whose music has appeared on labels including Planet E and and 20/20 Vision as well as My Baby Records, the label he co-owns with ATAXIA – and who's also music director and resident DJ at the city's famous TV Lounge venue
Name: Mister Joshooa
AKA: Joshua Guerin
Age: 20,217,600 minutes spent on Earth
Describe the music you make in 20 words or less: That's hard… I make music that's kinda techno, sorta house, a lil' breaky and minimal with a touch of sludge.
Five key influences: Parliament-Funkadelic, The Funk Brothers, MFSB, Dan Bell, Gil Scott-Heron
What one artist/producer would you most like to work with, and why? Hard to pick one out of so many, but I'll throw this out there… I'd like to work with Mathew Jonson because he is an absolute wizard with hardware, and that’s my beat.. I could learn a lot from that motherfucker, I’m sure… if not, shame on me!
If people check out just ONE of your tracks, what should it be? I’d say my favourite release was a joint effort with Eddie C called Bad Words. That track is pretty tight if I do say so myself.
What else do iDJ readers need to know? Upcoming releases in 2021 include a feature on ATAXIA’s new album on Life And Death, a split release on Detroit’s Cryovac Records, plus tracks on Infolines 004 and 20/20Vision's next various artists comp.
ADMN & Mister Joshooa's LFO's Are Tight appears on Infolines 003: Under The Bridge, which is out today on Infolines. Buy it here.
