Italy's Pirupa teams up with New York house vocalist Mr V
There must be something in the air right now... first we had Roger Sanchez teaming up with Dutch duo Park & Sons to produce an old-fashioned vocal house belter, and now it's Italian producer Pirupa recruiting NYC vocalist Mr V to produce this classic-style piano roller.
"Influenced by the sounds of 80s and 90s Chicago," is how the press release describes We Must Be, and they're not lying. A rolling, evolving piano line provides the main focus, underpinned by slamming 4/4s and a heavyweight b-line, while Mr V's vocal preaches the message of unity that's been in house music's DNA since day one over the top ("We must be all in this together/we must live to respect one another"). It's been done before, certainly - but given the state of world politics right now, it's surely a message that can't be repeated enough!
Mix-wise there's a simple choice between Vocal and Dub flavas so we're about done here - save to say that We Must Be has dancefloor energy in spades, and is definitely worth holding back till peaktime.
