The track is taken from the 'Ozaki' EP, which is out on Friday
Today's exclusive track premiere finds us once more in experimental bass music territory, as iDJ brings you a first chance to hear Yokota by Silene. It's the first track from his new Ozaki EP, which is out this Friday (30 April) on Miracle Drug Records.
Based – just like iDJ – in sunny Bristol, Silene's music has appeared on labels including Fever AM and Nous Disques, as well as his own Energy Source imprint. He also has a monthly show on 1020 Radio. Miracle Drug Records, meanwhile, is a Cleveland, Ohio-based label specialising in “bass, techno, grime and dubstep” that launched in 2019.
Elsewhere on the Ozaki EP, the title track marries twitchy percussion to an ominous bass growl and industrial FX, Kandori blends grime, dubstep and techno influences while Inoue is one for fans of fractured rhythms and head-melting sonic trickery. But it was the more overtly dubstep-oriented opener Yokota and its nods to vintage hardcore that grabbed us the most.
