The series begins with 'I Love: Funky', which launches at Ministry on 9 October
Rinse FM are launching a new project called I Love: in which they'll celebrate the various musical styles and movements they've supported since launching as an East London pirate station way back in 1994.
I Love: will be launched at Ministry of Sound, but it's much more than just a club night. For each I Love: party showcasing a particular genre or style, there'll be a matching documentary film charting that genre's evolution and history, as well as a Rinse compilation album. And if that sounds like a lot of work, it is, which is why Rinse plan to stage just "a handful of I Love: events a year".
First up in the series is I Love: Funky, which begins with a night at Ministry Of Sound celebrating the uniquely British sound of (UK) funky, the hybrid of house, garage, broken beat, soca and Afrobeat that had its heyday in the mid-00s.
