The US veteran brings us a post-lockdown anthem-in-waiting, Ant LaRock remixes
With their 20th birthday coming up next year, Get Physical bring us a cut from US legend Roland Clark that you're likely to hear on a LOT of dancefloors, once we're finally allowed back on them!
Very much a product of the coronavirus-induced lockdown blues, All My Friends is at heart quite a simple affair, a tough-ish, drum-led houser that does a neat sideline in fat bass and trippy FX, all topped with Clark's own unmistakable voice in full preacher-style mode, as he eulogises the sheer joy of communal dancing while an "I can't wait… to see all my friends again" loop plays throughout. There are echoes here of Blaze's My Beat and, a little further back in time, Dinosaur L's Go Bang – and given that it's all rendered with the sheer class we've come to expect from Clark over the years, there's no reason why it shouldn't go on to become just as much of a classic as those two tunes. Especially not when it's accompanied by a deeper and lightly Afro-tinged rework from Ant LaRock, a young producer who carries the classic house torch as few can.
Unbelievably, it's now 30 years since Urban Soul's Alright – and in all that time, I honestly can't say I've ever heard a weak track from the man. You need this record, and you know it.
