Essex lad Dean Mitchell comes to N-Telekia's label with a very solid two-tracker
Here we have a two-track EP from Essex-based Dean Mitchell, better known as Silver (UK), brought to you by Mexican deep tech/minimal/tech-house imprint Kief Music, which is headed up by N-Telekia.
On the A, Lost In Time itself opens with tuff, crunchy 4/4s, to which is soon added a nice fat, whompy bassline. The spoken vocal – a woman's voice saying the title over and over again – arrives around the 1:30 mark, accompanied by some otherworldly synth wibbles; there's then a brief dubby interlude before the drums kick back in and we go eyes-down till the finish line. The accompanying Stealth is less in-your-face and brash, opting for muted kicks and twitchy-glitchy sounds a-gogo, but should keep minimal floors shimmying along nicely.
There's a lot of music like this about right now, admittedly. But this is definitely one of the better examples to land in my inbox this week, with the A taking the gold for me.
