Subtle Element comes to Trex & Quest's Trust Audio label with a devastating three-tracker

Bristol D&B producer Subtle Element makes his Trust Audio debut with a dark, sparse three-tracker that's got dancefloor energy to spare.

Monotonous kicks things off, and centres around a monster of a wobble bassline which it marries to sparse, steppy drums, with various FX, risers and atmospherics adding interest as well as the occasional distorted vocal micro-snip. That's followed by the title track, Swamped, which opens with broody atmospherics and blasts of funk brass before dropping down into another firing stepper's beat and another large b-line. Completing the package is Dark Arts, which finds Subtle Element collaborating with label co-owner Trex, and which opens in sweet, almost liquid-y mode before unleashing some fierce Reece bass.

If you liked your D&B dark and stripped-back but not too in-your-face and aggressive, this is one to check for sure.
