Secretsundaze founders Giles Smith and James Priestley will play for six hours
It's a bit scary to think that we remember when Secretsundaze were the cool new kids on the clubbing block… these days, the London house and techno party is a bona fide institution! They've been keeping the capital's more discerning clubbers entertained for nearly 20 years – but lately, things haven't been going so well.
Not only has the coronavirus lockdown seen Secretsundaze unable to put any events, obliterating 90% of their income at a stroke, but Secretsundaze Studios – affordable, community-oriented studio space that they run in Hackney – has also had to close, with the building earmarked for property development.
As a result, founders Giles Smith and James Priestley recently launched a Crowdfunder campaign in a bid to keep the brand afloat. And today they're playing a six-hour, livestreamed DJ set on the Terrace at Oval Space as a way of drumming up some extra support, saying:
"We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who’s donated, shared and supported the crowdfunder so far. The kindness and messages of support from our friends and the wider dance music community has been overwhelming and humbling. Having said that, there’s still a long way to go for us to reach our target, and whilst the live stream is free to watch, we’d kindly ask those that can afford it, to make a pledge if you choose to lock in.”
Tune in via their Facebook page from 2pm today.
