Now working solo, Vibe Killers drops a two-tracker on his own Star Cycling Club
After strong support from the likes of Richy Ahmed and Gorgon City for Vibe Killers' first release on Star Cycling Club, here comes the eagerly anticipated follow-up, Rouge Pur.
The Original Mix starts off with a muted bassline and drum loop, which are soon joined by off-time percussion that gives the whole track a swung, rolling feel. Maria Berson's vocal is in French and quite quiet in the mix, lending Rouge Pur an intoxicating, exotic air that you just know is going to sound magnificent on a big rig. The other pass on offer, the VIP Mix, kicks off with a pulsing tone and odd percussion sounds, until the kick and closed hi-hat join the fray along with a more complicated bassline. Berson's vocal is louder on this mix, which is a more traditional tech-house affair and a great alternative to the rolling original. There are lots of risers and fast claps, a different lead line and an overall air of sophistication.
So there you have it: two very different mixes that both work well. Both should impress tastemakers and we mere mortals alike - the VIP Mix is my pick but I will happily play both over the coming summer months.
